Today, I decided to go to Abigail's Event at the Civic Center of Port Saint Lucie. Andrea drove Abigail & myself to the Civic Center. We left the house at 2:34pm. We stopped at Walgreens at the Gatlin Intersection so Andrea could get these cute little Santa Bells that I originally wanted to wear on my shoes but instead only had 1 on my True Crew shirt. I also wore an Elf hat with big Elf ears. The hat Andrea had on was kinda shiny. Both hats may be referenced in photos posted on Facebook. We then proceeded to the Civic Center without further delay. Arrival time was to be before 3:30pm & we beat that time by 5 mins. Just enough to meet up with Ms. Toni and the Minis. After gathering of all performers was complete, we saw performances of different Dance Studios & then True Crew was the last to perform. I thought it went the best. All of the performers were great & I got a kick out of Abigail's appearances as well. She performs with the Minis and AJ Pressimone basically guides them since he really enjoys doing helping out. Ms. Toni also performed briefly with the True Crew Boyz as well. I was able to get some photos of that. Overall, I got so many photos of the entire event. The only time I did not get much was during the actual walk through of the Parade since I was in it with Andrea. The float was ahead of everyone walking. Everyone was scheduled to arrive at their Float by 5:30pm. We were just a few minutes late but that was ok since it took a while after that to get organised enough to proceed. I got the photos that we took, posted in Facebook with today's date. It took making 2 photo Albums just doing it quickly. I will probably arrange just the True Crew Dance Company into it's own folder. Tomorrow is the real performance up in Fort Pierce as that is when the Christmas Performances by the entire Company are done along with the real Christmas Parade. I might go even though it will be a longer day. I can get more pictures of the even for posterity. I still feel bad because I never got the pics from JW's Baby Shower posted in Facebook for the hard drive in the Computer crashed. So many memories are gone...
Well, that's why we keep making new ones. I still have some memories in my mind of the shower & did catch a few "cast-off" pics that were either in the Recycle Bin or from another Facebook profile. I think the Run Through or rehearsal of the Parade tonite will be on Local Access TV here in PSL. Happy Holidays :-)

Thanksgiving 2010
Another Holiday is upon us. I am nearly done with classroom training at work. We just have Friday to go and then we go out to A-bay on Monday. We have 1 week to practise with Live calls & then we go Live ourselves a week later, meaning everything counts as far as right & wrong and how well we do. Performance is key although they also look at attendance & schedule adherence.
This Thanksgiving we get to celebrate at Simone's House. Andrea is quite relieved since that means no one will be making a mess here, LoL.
We got there in the afternoon & were among the first people to arrive. Carlito & Grace arrived, Mumaw was there, Nanny, Pop pops & Legia were there, so many people & so much food! It was definitely a blast.
Happy Thanksgiving One and All. Let's be sure to Remember the True meaning of Thanksgiving and be grateful for the many reasons this very Holiday was established.
I do regret being unable to Travel for a special gathering in Hialeah. :-(
Staying here was alright too because I got to spend time here as well with Family so either way, I'd be with Family. I want to go home to Northern Minnesota next year, however to spend Christmas with Mom & Sis, at the very least. I was thinking recently due to health concerns for more than 1 person in my Family that I'd like to be able to see Mom & Jolén more often in life before I inevitably die, LoL.
Happy Holidays :-)

Work
I'm nearly done with my 2nd week of Training, so far, so good.
It's a bit much at times & when my self doubt sets in, I'm often left wondering if I can do this. Then, I remember to be grateful that I have my wonderful job. It will come together for me soon. That's what Training is all about. Meanwhile, what to do about my car ...

Tomas & Cold Front
Today, I saw on the Weather Channel that there is cold air blowing down from the north. It blew directly down the whole Penninsula & right onto part of the north shore of Cuba. It resulted in blowing Tropical storm Tomas out east over the Atlantic Ocean which is great for Florida. How wonderful for us. It got down to about 48 degrees last night & it's 3:33 AM Eastern Standard Time with 52 degrees outside. It's Sunday 7 November 2010 so the clocks go back 1 hour or Fall Back.
I had a great day off. I did not get out of bed until 1:25 pm so that was my laziest Saturday in forever. It got up to the mid 60's today and the skies were clear as a bell. So beautiful. I even remembered to thank GOD for it.
Andrea & Abigail are at Universal Studios in Orlando for the weekend. They are staying at Loew's Royal Pacific Resort Hotel. John and the baby stayed home with me. I did not get to see Andrea & Abigail before they left on Friday because I was not home from Training Class until a quarter past midnight. I finished my first week of Training at Aegis, my Temporary Employer. The Client I work for is UHG or United Health Group. Ironically, I worked for them in Eau Claire, Wisconsin from August of 2007 through June of 2008. I'll be answering the phones for Enrollees however so I have to really know what I am doing with the information I am getting. It's with the Ovations segment of UHG again so that's good & I am a bit familiar with what's going on as opposed to everyone else in the class who never heard of Secure Horizons with United Health Care before. AARP is the largest portion of that Insurance. I'm so fortunate to have previous knowledge to fall back on. I studied my head off on Friday with the Election Periods that we will be handling. It was very good I did because it answered a bunch of questions & cleared some things up so now the Election Periods make more sense. I also have to study the plans better. Now, if Enrollees call me & ask about changes that can be made during OEP (Open Enrollment Period - Jan 1 to March 31 each year) I can let them know they must make "Like to Like" Plan changes and cannot change their Part D participation, in other words, they cannot add or drop that coverage for any reason.
Today it also occurred to me that we really need to reduce the amount of trash we produce. By "we" I mean all of society globally. It's just that the transportation of solid waste is coming at a staggering cost. Fuel & pollution are only 2 of the consequences. It takes alot of Fossil Fuels & that produces so much CO2 for the atmosphere. Not good. I can see that it's not so easy to reduce how much trash we produce, but then, we can use our Information SuperHighway to Google helpful advice on HOW to reduce trash & get tips on composting. I think that if anyone actually CAN make a composting pile, they really should just try it. Many people can't due to no land space or HOA (Home Owner's Association) restrictions but many others can. I hope to at some point. I did mention that this is a Green Blog (not my original idea, Thank You Jolen my wonderful Sis) so I realised since it's been a long time, I should mention something along those lines. Gopher Beans, my cousin John Muggli, Jr., baked some wonderful Ghirardelli Brownies so I am tempted to have more.
I picked up 2 molded heater hoses at Advance Auto Parts, for my car as well. Since there has been problems, John felt certain this will help fix the overall issues including bypassing installing a new Radiator so I can get a new refund. The part number for my car Radiator, according to NAPA Auto Parts, is 2010, LoL. I'll elaborate on where this car stuff comes from. It was all about last weekend when I tried to drive to Hialeah for a big Family gathering. It was for 2 Birthdays that I am aware of and also a great Halloween celebration. I had to stop at a Ugas gas station in Boca Raton on South Federal Highway and Yamato Road. The nice lady who was working there is Emily & she knows much more about cars & the Engines than I do. She's a great gal. The next time I go south that direction, I'm going to stop in just to say HI :-)

Worst News
Today, around 2 pm Central Daylight Savings time, my Uncle Tom P. Mitchell died near the Wisconsin Dells by the airport at Baraboo, Wisconsin, during a test flight of a plane he had just bought. The wings fell off 1 at a time. He had just returned from Iraq on Saturday, October 30th, 2010. Everyone was happy & looking forward to seeing him again after 9 months of duty served.
I just got done with my first day of Training class at Aegis, my current employer for my temporary job here in Port St. Lucie. Ironically, our client is United Health Group. They are changing their name back to United Health Care or UHC now. Plus, the group under UHC is Ovations, also who I worked for at the Eau Claire, Wi. corporate Offices. I'm handling Secure Horizons insurance enrollees over the phone starting next month. I also did that except as Enrollment Reconciliation with zero contact with Enrollees.
I didn't even want to get on the computer tonite but with such awful news, I felt a responsibility to report this extremely unfair and unfortunate death in the family.
I called my Sister Jolen immediately after hearing my Mom's voicemail. I had stopped in to Walmart to pick up a few things. I drove to the location on W St. Lucie West Boulevard since it's so close.
I was strong while I spoke to Jolen and told her at least Uncle Tom died doing what he loved which was flying. He flew reconnaissance missions by Helicopter overseas and most recently in Iraq as I mentioned.
I loved my Uncle very much and now I will always miss him without the option to see or speak to him ever again. I hope to join him in Heaven at GOD'S feet.

Car FAIL!
I tried to drive to Hialeah for a party I was invited to. The car is now stranded at a Gas Station in Boca Raton, FL. The Radiator has a hole in it. I'll go pick it up tomorrow. John will take me there.
He is always a deeply devoted and amazing man and fantastic Cousin :)

Abigail's Birthday Party
Today we held Abigail's Birthday celebration at Chuck E. Cheese's in Jensen Beach, FL. It was reserved for 2:30pm and we were there in plenty of time. Lots of people showed up. It was fun and noisy plus Abi had a great time.

New Temp Job
I actually had a bit of a better day and more productive. I landed a Temporary job so that helps. I should be there at least 2 months, maybe more. The company is called Aegis. I also happen to be in process of trying to get into Nursing School at IRSC which stands for Indian River State College for those who don't know. The wait list is long so I'll start on prerequisites first.
I truly don't understand why it is taking me SO LONG to get back into school but I can't wait.
I suppose that since everything in life is about timing, some of us just need to wait longer to do something like this. I really don't know if Nursing is going to be right for me but perhaps as I explore other pathways, something else will grab me along the way and force me to change my major. You never know. It happens to people. Meanwhile ... I think I might stay single as I have for 4 years this month, since I am quite conflicted on this whole gay thing. I'm questioning if it's ok or not. Wish I knew...

Happy Weekend
Today is the 9th Anniversary of the World Trade Center attacks. It's also the Birthday of my good friend and former Roommate Dominick Catena Jr.
I spent the day with Abigail and she had a good Dance class today with Miss Toni :-)
AJ Pressimone was there too. He was so happy about his car his Mom gave him.

Used Car
Today I picked up my used car from Javier Francisco Sanchez. It had 96,326 miles on the engine when I got it. The car is a 1998 Mazda 626 LE. It's green, has 4 doors plus a Sunroof and no rear spoiler. My last car was a 2 door and I got sick of that inconvenience. This car runs good when it wants to. The brakes could use some work but they are good enough to last until I pay off the car.

SeaShells on the SeaShore
Today I needed to unwind after work so I headed to Hutchinson Island and ended up in Jetty Park. I have never been there before but it was very nice.
I was displeased with a portion of the beach due to whatever had washed up but the rest of it downshore was good. I went downshore a little way so I could proceed with enjoying the water. I began seashell hunting out of habit and it was so enjoyable.
The simple pleasures in life are sometimes the very best. I loved playing in the waves.

Family Presence and other things.
Since J to the Dub was born, the family swooped in quite a bit to lend support and love to the proud Mom and Dad. They certainly needed it. The weekends with lots of relatives were great and wonderful to have Diana here too. August 3rd is Jeremy's 38th Birthday and on the 12th is Aunt Barbara's Birthday :-)

John Wesley Muggli III
Today, Tuesday 13 July 2010, John Wesley Muggli III was born at 8:15pm EDT at Martin Memorial Hospital in Martin County, Florida. I'm celebrating with a salad and staying up a lil late.
I didn't make it over to the Hospital tonite because I was off work about 9:20pm and have never been to the Hospital before, I'm also very tired but really wanted to take time to blog about this fantastic event! He weighed in at 7lbs 2.5oz.
Yesterday, 12 July 2010, J dub's Mommy celebrated her 38th Birthday which I unfortunately was unable to attend due to work.

Andrea's Birthday Dinner
This evening, we had Andrea's Birthday dinner early. She wanted to go to Outback Steakhouse. I had Norwegian Salmon. Tomorrow, July 12th, she is 38. On Tuesday at 7:30 am, she has to be at the Hospital so that they can induce Labour. I hope to go there after work. I don't think I will work until closing again as I did almost every day for the last pay period. We have all been anticipating the arrival of John Wesley Muggli, III. He already has the nickname "J dub" and I refer to him as the Great Gopherbini.

Father's Day, etc.
Today I was cheerfully celebrating Father's Day with John & Andrea Muggli because John is such a GREAT Dad to Abigail.
We went to a restaurant called Bob Evans here in Port St. Lucie, FL. The food was good & service was good, overall, a very pleasing experience. Understandably, it was very busy so we did wait for a while but it was worth it. While there, I did manage to text Uncle John to tell him happy Father's Day as well. Diana texted me to say Happy Father's Day referring to my cat Oreo.
After that, we went over to Home Depot & then Sam's Club. We came back & just hung out the rest of the day. Abi & I had fun and we even played with the horses that she has, I think they are My Little Pony.
Yesterday, we went to the Beach at Jensen Beach, it was myself, Abi & Gopher Beans. The Mysterious Gopher & myself got sunburned. We had lots of fun & collected sea shells. Abi played with another girl whose name I forgot unfortunately. The sunlight was beautiful. The ocean water was a bit murkier up here than down south. I was also at Jensen Sea Turtle Beach on Friday night after work & got bitten up by some ants & bugs. My skin is very itchy right now & full of little itchy bumps. I try not to scratch but can't help it.
Right now, I'm going to finish talking to Shannon on the phone (I called Pa on Father's Day), get some Oreo cookies & go to bed.
Until next time!

June Birthdays in Fort Lauderdale
Today, I am going to go to Fort Lauderdale & celebrate the June Birthdays in the family on Andrea's side. Aunt Lorna's Birthday was on June 1st, Chelsea was on June 5th I think & Melanie's was on June 9th. Everyone knows Melanie by her middle name Simone, that is what we call her.
More updates to this when I know more.

Goal Accomplished
Today, I finally finished classroom training at my work with Liberty Medical Supply Pharmacy here in Port St. Lucie, FL. We had a final exam that we had to pass with at least an 80% so I scored 102% which is great! We finished up in the Training room at 2 pm. Kinda like a Graduation.
I felt a little sad that our time in the training room had to end so soon but happy to begin a new chapter. I am now going to begin learning how to navigate the systems & speak to the customers. My assignment over the weekend is to memorise the script & practise opening calls. It will help me for when I actually get on the phones.
Another really nice event took place today which was Tammy Ketchmark's Birthday today. She is Shannon Ketchmark's Sister for those who are unaware. She is celebrating 48 years today. Happy Birthday Tammy!
Just wanted to drop that little note along the way in my journeys.
Until next time!

Abigail's Dance Recital
What can I say? It was a BIG HIT!!! The whole show was so wonderful and "Ms. Toni" is amazing to be able to choreograph so very many students on stage. There were some big numbers & also some solos, so quite a range. The ending of the show was the very biggest & included all of the students plus a bunch of parents who volunteered to dance in the ending number "Jazz it up".
It really was great. The owner/Director of the Dance Studio is "Ms. Toni" as I stated & she has 2 sons who are both in the show as well. AJ Pressimone 15 & Mikey Pressimone 8. They are both experienced as well. AJ was with the group of Senior Boys & there were 4 of them. Mikey is with the Junior Boys & there are maybe 8 or so.

Abigail's Dress Rehearsal & Work Outs
Today, Abigail had a wonderful dress rehearsal at Treasure Coast High School held in the Auditorium. True Crew Dance Studio is holding a big show tomorrow, a full Ballet/Dance Recital & I have a ticket to go. I can't wait. I got a couple of videos of Abigail performing today because we can't bring any cameras tomorrow. Abigail has 3 dance routines, 1 is Rainbows & Lollipops, a song from the early '60s, Rainbow Connection & Party in the U.S.A. by Miley Cyrus, she is really good in that routine, she's animated.
This morning, I was craving a trip to the beach but opted to work out with the mysterious Gopher Beans instead. I was tired & muscles are ok. I may end up a bit sore but not yet. I will resume what I was shown, in the morning to see how things go from there. I am focusing primarily on arms & upper body along with some time on Elliptical machine. I gradually increase & then decrease tension to make the most of the workout. I also do the upper body workouts a little at a time. It's important not to take on too much, tendons need time to strengthen so they can support the muscle tissue growth.
Last night, I worked on the Sony PS3 for a bit to make a new track in the ModNation Racers game. I planned to show that to Abigail today but we were all busy as other plans/activities, including getting ready for the dance recital, prevailed.

Universal Studios - Orlando, FL.
I had a great weekend this year for Memorial Day. On Friday, May 28, 2010 I left work, got picked up by my wonderful Cousins with whom I live & we drove up to Orlando for the weekend. We got there after 8 pm or so & walked over to the pool area. We stayed at Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando® Resort. It was luxurious!
We were in the first of 2 parks on Saturday which was Mom's 56th Birthday. It was sunny for a fair portion of the day, we did devolop clouds & rain for a while, then it cleared up again. My 1st ride experience was Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast™. We then saw Shrek 4-D™ as well. For those who don't know, 4-D means that not only do the seats move as the picture on screen moves, it's also a 3-D picture so you have to wear the glasses. Gopher was right when he cautioned me that my eyes will be fatigued. It was still fun. Next, we saw TWISTER...Ride It Out®, this was great plus it got us out of the rain as it had just started. The ride was thrilling. It takes place when they were ordering 8 coffees at the Drive-In & then they found out the Twister was just about their. They all had to hide in the big barn where the sign outside fell in. It was great.
They not only had the Drive-In screen far off in the background but also have something like a Giant Imax screen in the far background to show the lightning & then the Twister. It all felt like we were really outside. I was fascinated because they used some smoke to make a life like Twister in the "parking lot" to add to the effects. Great Ride. I recommend it.
I was able to accomplish another goal of mine which was to get some Cotton Candy because John got me some. The mysterious one they call the great Gopher was indeed generous.
We also saw a ride called Disaster!SM- A Major Motion Picture Ride...Starring YOU!
I got nominated to play the part of the guy who was in the rushing river in the movie :-)
I can't forget that we saw MEN IN BLACK™ Alien Attack™ & Revenge of the Mummy® 2 times.
The evening eventually wrapped up, I don't recall much after that ride, currently. We did have a beautiful dinner at Margaritaville & take the boat ride back to the Hotel to relax for the night. I recall being SO tired but I soon went to sleep. I decided to have a Chocolate Waffle Cone with chocolate chip sprinkles for a night cap. I had already been at the pool area checking in on Ariella & Krystal to be sure they were ok & of course they were playing Volleyball in the pool. Good Times.
The next day, we dressed in shorts to go on the water rides at the next park called Islands of Adventure. We really had alot of fun on those rides. I also had roller coaster rides. We started with Dr. Suess Landing, the portion of the park that makes you feel very clearly like you just stepped into a Dr. Suess book. I loved The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride!™. I also thought The Cat In The Hat™ was a cute ride too, I took Abigail on that one plus the first one. I rode MEN IN BLACK™ Alien Attack™ & The Simpsons Ride™ was fun too. I also got to go to the Dueling Dragons® The Chinese Dragon & The Hungarian Horntail. I rode both of those Roller Coasters & decided I was done. I had not really done that for over 12 years.
I recommend Jurassic Park River Adventure® & Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls® for fun splashes :-)
By the time I got to the Comic Strip area, I was getting tired. I waited for Aunt Lorna, Ariella, Krystal & Brandon so I could walk them from The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man®
No matter how you break it down, Universal Studios Orlando is really worth the visit.
Until next time :-)
We were in the first of 2 parks on Saturday which was Mom's 56th Birthday.

Baby Shower Success!
Today we had the Baby Shower for John Wesley Muggli lll.
It was a hit! Many members of the family from Andrea's side showed up to help with Celebrating.
As people showed up, some brought food to prepare & others had it done before arrival. It didn't matter since we all had a great time. Gifts & cards flowed in & love was more abundant than anything else present.
Aunt Bonne showed up as well, she lives in Venice, FL. with her daughter Brittany at this time.
It was my pleasure to show her lots of pictures of Family on different sides & ensure a complete tour of the home I am blessed enough to share with the family members who invited me to stay & live here for the time being.
We talked, laughed, got connected to Nick & Catalina via Skype on the Sony Playstation 3 & Brittany added me on Facebook.
I showed Bonne a photo of herself from High School. I don't know what year it is from but hope to figure it out sometime. I will see if I can get that & others scanned in on the computer sometime.
Tomorrow, May 23, 2010 is the 1st Birthday of Ellie May (Thorpe)?, daughter of Ryan Thorpe, Bonne Thorpe's only Son. He is living in Warroad, Mn.
Tomorrow is also the day everyone is celebrating Chelsea's Birthday, Sister of Brandon, in West Palm Beach, she will be turning 11 soon, if I remember correctly.
Until next post!

Baby Shower Prep & other Moments
Yesterday, I finally submitted an Application to IRSC. That's Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, FL. I have stated for over a decade that I wanted to go back to school again but could not decide what to do. I am going for the Registered Nursing program. I may still look into the HealthCare Management which includes Nursing Admin with another school, just an extra option. I am already off to an interesting start. I tried to do my Application on the computer in the school but I got an error so I have to try again on the website from home. I have an e-mail with instructions from Tech Support, I'll sort it out there to start.
Meanwhile, we have spent some time today getting ready for the Baby Shower tomorrow which starts @ 2pm, right here at the house. I was not able to walk Belle Beans today but I can still try tomorrow. The trees outside got their watering, of course.
I am worried about the stipulation of my employer Liberty Medical. They have a strict policy that any applicant must have a full 7 years of Employment verified & that there has to be somebody, anybody they can talk to so that a particular company based in Ohio can do that. I really didn't make any real friends at that job. Part of the reason was due to a revolving door, as Telemarketing often is & also because I was interested in spending time looking for other work during my employment there. I have been notified more than once that they cannot locate anybody from that company & have even spoken to a Secretary in Iowa in the State Government. Nothing. I'm going to call the Better Business Bureau in Des Moines sometime to see if they were Registered with them.
I recall 1 lady I used to work with, her first name only. I am unable to get ahold of her so far. I am worried & I think if I cannot get her in touch with this company for Liberty Medical, I may not be able to keep this job. That would be really bad.
I have decided I am not going to Disney World in Orlando over the Memorial Day weekend with my Cousins because I need the money to go towards purchasing a car when I can. Maybe next time.
I am told Aunt Bonne will be here for the Baby Shower & she'll bring Brittany as well. I hope it's true, I can't wait to see them again.
As part of my Ecological Contributions, I am still working on reducing overall water usage but for now, I may have hit a plateau as I really only use the water for hydration & bathing as needed, dishes, laundry & watering the trees and plants to ensure they don't wilt & die. I realise it's not the prettiest thing but, let's face it, we do need to reduce flushing of our commodes as well. It saves water overall & I have already begun that.
As far as the plants go, we have a Fern plant outside that was not doing well. My cousin wants to have it pulled up but I bought some time to bring it back to health. It still doesn't look great but it's beginning to respond to the frequent waterings by displaying a new chute. I don't water the trees & plants everyday as it's a bit excessive. I always miss a day here & there. When I go back to work, the watering will be less frequent.
Yesterday, I was at Kmart in Fort Pierce after I had gotten done at the school & looked through the food section. I decided to look in the chips where I normally don't go & I found Creamy Dill Pickle flavoured chips. They were not Old Dutch brand but I was so happy to see them. I also found Ketchup flavour which I have not had since I used to visit in Canada over a decade ago.
Again, they are not Old Dutch but still good. I was amused.
Until next time!

Simple Days
Lately, with my time off between jobs, I have had lots of time around the house to myself.
It's quiet during the day because Abigail is at School, she attends the Colonial Country Day School is what I think it's called & cousins are at work. I usually clean up the kitchen & house in general, so they don't have to & I keep up on my chores. I do laundry & I try to keep my room in order. It's more work & more challenges than the last place I lived in but so worth it.
I also enjoy watering the plants & trees in the backyard. I don't do that everyday since it's not necessary, but I will most days depending on precipitation.
As I do that, I try to ponder what green things I can do to improve the reduction of my carbon footprint. I have started using less water for dishes & have gotten back into recycling since Port St. Lucie does that.
I want to help out with getting the rain barrels Andrea wants to attach to the gutters after they get installed but that is something a bit down the road yet. I have reduced how much paper I use including for hygiene purposes & it's just fine. I use products that are recycled as much as I can find them & also want items to be compostable. The bags they use for Sun Chips are 100% compostable & are fully degraded in approximately 13 weeks. I plan to buy a bag soon & compost it so I can see just what happens. I'll make notes of my weekly observations when I do.
I also use less energy. I keep the TV's in the house turned off when I am not using them, all lights & electronics remain off during the hours no one is home if they are not being used.
The power usage goes up when everyone is here, understandably.
I no longer use any kind of incandescent lights myself, however, 2 remain in the bathroom I use. They will be replaced after they burn out. No sense in wasting them.
I feel good & bad about switching over to CFL's. Since I know that they contain Mercury & have to be sent away for special handling to be recycled safely, I decided I want LED lights anywhere I can install them. They are even more energy efficient, last far longer & need no special care to be recycled.
If you ever drop & break a CFL, try to get away from it immediately before it breaks. Find anything you can to place over your face. A breathing mask of any kind helps. If you suspect there is any Mercury on your clothes, you will need to place them in a plastic bag & bring them to a facility to be taken care of. If it's one of your favourite outfits, kiss it goodbye. Next, you will need to bring another plastic bag & good masking tape with you to clean up the mess. Wearing sturdy rubber gloves, use the sticky side of the tape to pick up all of the glass pieces & Mercury powder from the surface which it contaminated. All debris must be contained & brought to the facility to be disposed of, in order to be Environmentally safe. Disposal of these light bulbs into the standard trash will allow Mercury to enter the ground contaminating soil & water.
All of this is not worth it to have CFL's. I'll pay the higher price for LED's, if they need to charge it.
Until next time, have a Green week. :-)

Gardening for your Heart & Soul
I was helping my Cousins with yard work today & cleaning up weeds which had been pulled up from the little flower gardens they have in front & back of their house. We also placed new fresh Red Cedar Mulch in the flower beds to give them a little something extra. We also placed the mulch around the Guava tree, Gardenia tree & Banana trees. I looked around after we finished & realised it looked beautiful & that it gives you a peaceful, happy feeling to accomplish this.
Gardening is also an artform, as most people know.
I decided that, in life, we may wish to treat ourselves as a Garden. It's something that is done carefully to ensure beauty & quality. Gardening is great for your mind & soul. There are weeds that have to be pulled to ensure preservation & growth of good things such as positivity in all aspects of your life.
One's entire life is like a Garden. Sometimes, there are weeds that cannot be removed, in this case however. It's very sad but so true.
Some folks will understand this, others .... not so much.
It's just important to think about ALL of the things you do in any given day at any given moment.
It's surprising how fast one bad decision or a series of them can haunt you & ruin your life, permanently. I find that the constant road blocks are a often a great challenge. Certain types of difficulties can appear to defeat you at every turn. Even so, I have realised that there is no point in being defeatist when you can simply move on. People have to realise that since your life is unrepeatable, be sure you don't make any serious mistakes that you will regret forever.
The little Gardens around the house look beautiful since they are tended to.
In other news, today is the Wedding of my Cousin Diana Spivey & her fiancée Mark Gass.
They are to be wed at 5 pm in Melcher, Iowa. I only wish I could attend, but for several reasons, I am unable to attend, regrettably. I am there in Spirit & was able to send a nice card w/money to ensure my best wishes are known.
We have been keeping in touch with Nick & Catalina. They are living in Santiago de Chile, South America, for those who don't yet know this.
They survived the earthquakes that hit back in February. They had 1 of a set of 2 Wedding Glasses broken & everything else is good.
They are planning to move to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in approx. 18-20 months, depending on how long the Immigration process takes as well as paperwork. They have extended me an offer to move there with them, however, I feel Immigration Canada may refuse me the priviledge.
This past Saturday, May 8, 2010 was the First Communion of Ariella Ottar, Daughter of Kevin Ottar & Melanie Robinson. It was held at a local Catholic Church called St. Anne Seton close by the house here in Port St. Lucie, FL.
The next day, we went out to dinner for Mother's Day at Pirate's Cove Marina & Resort as mentioned in a previous post. We all had a great time.
Today, after Gardening, we have been setting up some items in preparation for the Baby Shower next weekend on May 22, 2010 for John Wesley Muggli lll. His due date is set for July 10, 2010. We can't wait!

Mother's Day 2010
Today turned out to be a great day. It was very sunny and Hot.
I was thrilled to be with the Family all day & we went out to a really nice dinner as well.
We went to the Pirate's Cove Resort & Marina in Salerno, Fl.
Needless to say we all had a great time & I got some nice pictures from there as well.
So, to all the Moms out there, know that my opinion is very firm in the adage that Everyday is Mother's Day :-)

Running with the Dog in your Pajamas
Yeah, today it is very sunny out & so I thought I would WALK Bella today.
I got out her leash & she saw it, despite my efforts to hide it or she just knew it since Dogs tend to have an innate sense of the world around them and what their humans are doing.
She got all excited about it so I finished making a burger for lunch and set it aside in the microwave to come back to it.
I grabbed the leash, she jumped and celebrated in excitement as I tried to put the leash on her.
That took a minute or so. Upon completion of this task, she proceeded to run to the door which was close. I opened the door and grabbed onto the leash for dear life. We then started out in a jog and then I found myself running in the bright sunlight, down the road in my pajamas!
So, there you have it. Bella took me on a run in pajamas for the whole neighbourhood to see today. Hilarious Indeed.
Until next time, remember that you haven't really lived until you have gone running with the Dog in Pajama pants and a T-Shirt :-)

Job Search Update & My Sis
Today I got a call telling me I start training on May 24th, 2010 for a new job as a Pharmacy Patient Enrollment Representative at Liberty Medical here in Port St. Lucie. I'm so happy to have finally found a job in this economy. I struggled for a month submitting possibly 50 or 60 applications & turning to countless job boards such as Monster.com, CareerBuilder, ApplyHire.com, jobbingtree.com, WorkforceFlorida.com, EmployFlorida.com & more.
Finally, someone said YES! I feel so much better about it that now I can start focusing more on other things like my Family & close friends. I think my Mom is always there for me anytime I need her & my Sis is too. She & I are usually pretty busy & I don't take enough time for Sis for the last decade or so but that is changing (big smile) because she is my only sibling so I'm going to extend more attention to her & hopefully we will get closer again. I really miss that. I actually realised sometime back that I barely know my Sis & I feel sad for that. I blame myself totally because she makes efforts & it's unfair to her. So to my Sis, if you read this at any point, even after everything is all said & done at the end of the day, just know that you are my Hero & you Inspire me to be a much better person/doing better things with my time & life.
I Love You Jolén!! I Love You too, Mom!! :-)

Pet Supplies
The last time I was at PetSuperMarket, I faced an interesting dilemma. I realised it would not be a good idea to switch back to the clay based Cat Litter that I used for a decade since it is mined from the earth but often does not do well when disposed of. It does not seem to break down well. I had switched to litter that is corn based and it has a much shorter life than the clay litter. I decided to switch to a wheat based cat litter instead. Since I have barely switched, I do not yet have a reasonable critique of the product. I did the switch because I am trying to use more Ecologically friendly products. I find that some Cat Litter is biodegradeable & recycled while the packaging itself does not specifically say if it is recyclable or that it can be recycled. I no longer purchase the clay based litter in plastic containers. There is 1 brand of litter that is both biodegradeable & reclyclable as well as the packaging, also made from recycled materials. I plan to experiment with this litter in the future but for now I have lots of the wheat based litter to try. It's supposed to manage odors better than the other types of litter that I have used. We'll see.

Great Grandma's Birthday
Today Adele St. Peter would have been 104 years old. She was Mom's Grandma.
Happy Birthday Great Grandma.
It is also the 98th Anniversary of the Titanic hitting an iceberg which caused her to sink to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.
Rest in Peace.

New Beginning
Hello Everyone,
I'm starting a new blog since my Sister inspires me to do it & I thoroughly enjoy her posts.
I've been deciding on different things that impact our world & I want to reduce or eliminate my Carbon Footprint to the best of my ability. I also find that since my electricity that I enjoy is fed to me by the Power Grid, it tends to cancel out some of my footprint reduction efforts, which is NOT enjoyable.
I am going to start using LED Lightbulbs as soon as I can start buying them. I no longer wish to use the Compact Flourescent Bulbs as they contain high amounts of Mercury & I have to specially package them to be sent away for recycling, thus, once again cancelling out some of my efforts to save energy & the environment. Since the light bulbs are hazardous, which most sources refuse to acknowledge, I am trying to gently bring this to light with people whom I come into contact with.
If I ever can, I want to switch to Solar Energy & try composting in some fashion.
Meanwhile, my Cousin Andrea is considering purchasing a rain barrel & am I very pleased to encourage that. I will see if I can help out with hunting for a good one. It will capture rain water to use in the Gardens.
More next post. Until next time!
